One of the most popular study programmes for international students in Slovakia is Human Medicine. Studying human medicine takes an average of 6 years and is organised in 12 semesters. Graduates are awarded the title of "Doctor of General Medicine" (MUDr.), which is recognised not only in the European Union, but almost all over the world. Graduates have appropriate theoretical knowledge of pre-clinical subjects and clinical disciplines.

Since 1969 it has been part of Comenius University, the oldest and largest university in the Slovak Republic.
