Campus, Simulation Centre & Modern Teaching Methods (SIMU)
An outstanding feature of Masaryk University is its state-of-the-art SIMU simulation centre - one of the most modern in Central Europe. Here you train realistic medical situations, learn procedures and skills without endangering patients - mistakes are explicitly allowed because you learn from them. The campus is directly connected to the five-storey teaching hospital.
Study programmes & language of instruction
Human medicine and dentistry in English
Masaryk University offers two English-language degree programmes: Human Medicine and Dentistry. Both programmes are aimed specifically at international students and take global standards into account. The programmes are taught entirely in English, allowing you to access international medical literature and global career opportunities without language barriers. The subjects are taught by the MU team - experienced lecturers who are active in research and teach practical content.
Collaboration with the MU team & research
The close collaboration between professors and students at the faculty not only promotes learning, but also your own research. As a student, you can take part in projects, e.g. in biomedical or clinical research - an advantage if you want to pursue a career in science or clinical research later on. The faculty is internationally networked, which facilitates exchange programmes and collaborations.
Admission & admission procedure
Admission test: no NC, but single-choice test
One decisive advantage: in Brno you don't need a Numerus Clausus (NC) for admission to medicine, even the Fachabitur is sufficient - your Abitur average does not matter. Instead, there is a different challenge: an entrance examination, which is a written single-choice test (no multiple choice questions). The content is taken from the subjects of biology, chemistry, physics and maths and corresponds to the level of a full secondary school education. This gives you real equal opportunities - regardless of your German Abitur.
Topics: Biology, chemistry, physics, maths - Test format
The exam contains questions from the four core subjects. Single choice means that only one answer is correct. Unlike multiple-choice tests, you have to rely exactly on specialised knowledge - which is often considered fairer. The questions are based on typical upper secondary school syllabuses and are available in English or Czech. You can prepare yourself optimally - with video courses, practice test simulations and personal coaching.
Application, application deadline, winter semester & admission locations
You can submit your application documents online via the future-doctor application portal (application deadline is usually July/August for the winter semester). Together we will submit your application to the university.
Entrance examinations take place several times a year - in Germany (e.g. Munich, Frankfurt), in Austria (Vienna) and online. After successfully passing the exam, you will receive your Medical study place in English. The programme usually starts in September.

Clinical practice in a teaching hospital (5th & 6th year)

The Faculty of Medicine works together with several faculty hospitals, where you will care for real patient cases under the guidance of treating doctors - accompanied and always reflected upon, of course.
The goal: theory and practice come together. You develop confidence, learn real responsibility and build trust in yourself and your medical skills.
Internships possible in Germany, Austria, Switzerland
Particularly interesting: You can also complete your practical training periods (in the clinical part) in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. The Faculty of Medicine is EU-compatible, so these rotations are fully recognised.
